The “Architects Enter the Enterprise” salon was held successfully.
On November 12, 2020, the “Architects Visit Enterprises” salon was held at the Lutai Production Base of OHC Construction Group. Seizing the opportunities presented by the architect-in-charge system and the development of prefabricated construction, and with the aim of enhancing industry efficiency, the event was co-hosted by the Architectural Steel Structure Branch of the China Association for Metal Structures in Construction and the Building Industry Committee of the Beijing International Economic and Trade Development Association. The discussion focused on industry innovation and opportunities under the architect’s lifelong responsibility system, seeking to facilitate connections between architects and construction firms through dialogue, reduce rework in the design process, promote prefabricated construction technologies, and jointly help clients cut construction costs, thereby achieving a win-win outcome.

Seizing the opportunities presented by the architect-in-charge system and the development of prefabricated construction, this event—organized by the Architectural Steel Structure Branch of the China Association for Metal Structures and the Building Industry Committee of the Beijing International Economic and Trade Development Association—aimed to enhance industry efficiency. Through dialogue, it sought to facilitate connections between architects and construction firms, reduce rework in the design process, promote prefabricated construction technologies, and jointly help clients cut construction costs, thereby achieving a win-win outcome. The co-organizers were Beijing Guoruitong Information Technology Co., Ltd. (China Architecture Metal Structure Network) and OHC Construction Group Co., Ltd.
With the implementation of the architect‑in‑charge system, and in accordance with the contractual agreements between the parties, architects are granted the authority to issue instructions on behalf of the project owner and to approve works, while their design‑consulting responsibilities are clearly defined. This approach broadens the architect’s professional scope, integrates previously fragmented service chains, and enables architects to act as agents for owners in areas such as design consulting, tendering, and contract management, thereby assuming responsibility for the building’s final quality, cost, and schedule through both design and oversight. The future has arrived: in a sense, the architect‑in‑charge system amounts to a “turnkey project” under the architect’s stewardship.
The meeting was chaired by Zhang Jinling, Director of the Construction Industry Committee of the Beijing International Economic and Trade Development Association.

Led by Xin Yabing, the manager of the space frame company, the visiting delegation toured the steel structure production workshop, the space frame production workshop, the metal composite sandwich panel production workshop, and the roofing demonstration base.
